Press Conference In Conjunction With Pocket Talk Programme: Selangor Food & Beverages Industry 2020

Food and Beverage Sector has been one of the major clusters in Selangor. It is the fifth-largest industry in Selangor since 1980, the sector has seen a total of RM18 billion invested and has created nearly 50,000 employment opportunities in Selangor. As Selangor set its sights on becoming a world trading hub and the Food and Beverage sector as a major part of this ambition, Invest Selangor Berhad and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) has jointly organized the Pocket Talk Programme. Selangor Food & Beverages Industry 2020 at the Concorde Hotel Shah Alam.


The main objective of the Pocket Talk Programme was to update industry players on the facilities provided by the Government. The programme featured sharing sessions on initiatives by the state government as well as by the federal government from MIDA.



They are four topics presented in the Pocket Talk Programme, which was "Selangor International Business Summit 2020" by Mr. Ahmad Khairo Othman, Director of Corporate Communication & SIBS Division, Invest Selangor Berhad, "The International Muslim Friendly Affiliated Network (IMFAN)- Programme- An Initiative by The Selangor State Government" by Mr. Zukarnie Shah Zainal Abidin, Chief Operating Officer Halal International Selangor (HIS), 2 speakers from Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and they will presenting on "Government Facilitation for Food Manufacturing Industry" by Mdm. Khamilah Mohd. Yusoff, Director of Food Technology & Resources Based Industry, and "Investment Incentives Related To Industry 4WRD" by Mdm. Noor Suziyanti Saad, Senior Deputy Director of Advance Technology & R&D Division.

The half-day event, which attracted approximately 200 entrepreneurs in F&B industry players, was officiated by Y.B Dato' Teng Chang Khim, Executive Councillor (Chairman of Standing Committees for Investment, Industry & Commerce and Small & Medium Enterprise (SME), Selangor.



Also present at the event was Mr. S. Sivasuriyamoorthy, Executive Director of Investment Promotion, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) with other stakeholders such as Hijrah Selangor, JAIS, Halal International Selangor and other agencies, and with chambers of commerce and trade association as well as other related agencies and organizations to boost the industries in Selangor.



Y. B Dato' Teng Chang Khim also launched the upcoming Selangor International Business Summit 2020, to be held on 14-17 October 2020 at Kuala Lumpur Convention CENTRE. SIBS is one of the state's key globalization and trade initiative strategies to position Selangor as a Prominent marketplace for entrepreneurs and investors to do businesses in the South East Asian region. Y. B Dato's Teng Chang Khim also introduced and launched the state's newest initiative, the International Muslim Friendly Affiliated Network (IMFAN). IMFAN is a Tier-Rating programme to assist SMEs in building halal principles and practices at the early stages of their business, to prepare SME's prior to obtaining the halal certification.
