SITEC Awards Nation's First E-commerce Hub Certificate to EMHub & Emporis

It was a privilege to witness the EMHub 's Groundbreaking ceremony by Guests of Honour YAB Tuan Amirudin Bin Shahri, Menteri Besar Selnagor; YB Dato' Teng Chang Khim, Senior Executive Councillor and Chirman of the Standing Committees for investment, Industry &Commerce, Small & Medium Enterprise (SME); Dato' Hasan Azhari HJ. Idris, CEO of invest Selangor berhad; Dato' Seri Subahan Kamal, Chairman of Alcom Group Berhad; Dato' Tony Lim, Managing Director of SCland Development Sdn Bhd; and Yong Kai Ping, Chief Executive of SITEC.

This SITEC awarded SCland's EMHub & Emporis collectively with the nation's first SITEC E-Commerce Hub Certificate at Kota Damansara on 23rd April 2019.Development projects should demonstrate such facilitative efforts through stellar physical infrastructure and fulfilment & warehousing capabilities, backed by an e-commerce friendly ecosystem and talent development programmes.

The development project will be assessed of four areas:-

1) Infrastructure
2) Logistics & E-fulfillment capabilities
3) Facilitative ecosystem
4) Talent development Capabilities

During the opening speech by YAB Tuan Amirudin Bin Sahari, Menteri Besar Selangor, said " The SITEC E-Commerce Hub Award given today to SCland for the developments of the EMHub & Emporis jointly highlights an important step for Selangor to move towards New Retail- where Online to Offline (O2O) and Online Merge with Offline Business (OMO) business are emerging." Adding on to his speech, " At the SITEC E-Commerce Hub, sellers can have their distribution centres, showrooms and offices under one roof while operating their business online. Aside from the infrastructure & e-fulfillment capabilities provided by EMHub, SITEC will play a role to facilitate a digital economy ecosystem including payment gateaway, logistics services or online marketplaces as well as talent development capabilities such as E-Commerce Classes, Accelerator programmes, co-working space and other events at Emporis."

While Dato' Teng Chang Khim said, "The SITEC E-Commerce Hub Certification is a way to step up our efforts to push for innovation within traditional industries through digital economy efforts. This is an invitation to other developers and stakeholders in related industries to follow suit and push for transformation of the e-commerce scene. We would like to encourage the Selangor business community to take advantage of the resources and knowledge provided by the E-Commerce Hub to learn about selling online and upgrading their business to the O2O model.

Adding to his speech, "We also hope that the e-Commerce Hub can help to attract Foreign Domestic Investment in the digital economy, where e-Commerce merchants and startups set up offices, distribution centres and showrooms in EMHub."

The ceremony official launched with the EMHub's Groundbreaking. Follow by YAB Tuan Amirudin Bin Shari presented the SITEC E-Commerce Hub Certificate to Dato' Seri Subahan and recognizes EMHub & Emporis jointly as being facilitative of e-commerce activities in Malaysia. Its developers have demonstrated that the development possesses stellar physical infrastructure , fulfillment &warehousing capabilities, an e-commerce friendly ecosystem and a commitment to talent development.

SITEC has been committed to growing the local e-Commerce industry since 2015 and are always looking at ways to add value to the industry. The application criteria for the E-Commerce Hub Certification is developments are holistic in their approach to nurture local SMEs and e-cCommerce players.

SITEC is looking at not just the infrastructure but the amenities as well as relavat supportive initiatives such as skills or training programmes and events for tenants. We have even set a requirement for developments in Selangor to set aside 30% of the co-working space especially for Selangor businesses in order to encourage more e-Commerce and entrepreneurship activity in the state.
