My Journey to Hong Kong - Day 1

November 19, 2015

This is the trip that I have been waiting for as I  have win a trip to Macau for Bungy Jump. During my trip to Macau, I plan to drop by Hong Kong . The challenge we are facing in Hong Kong is both of us don't know how to read Chinese (Banana people).

Tips for traveler
  • Plan your own budget to prevent overspend during the trip.
  • List down the places that you wish to visit during the trip.
  • Read some review /comment how to hunt for a good food in Hong Kong
  • Make your own checklist, what are the things that you need to bring to Hong Kong (example: camera, toiletries, map and etc)
  • We print out the google map in case we not able to get free wifi.
  • If possible try to learn or understand other country culture as you will find easy to adapt to their environment.
  • Do your booking for hotel or tour guide in advance.

Day 1
When we arrive at Macau International Airport, we quickly proceed to Ferry terminal and bought our ticket from Macau heading to Tsim Sha Tsui. I personally will recommend to buy your ferry ticket from Turbo Jet company as the ticket is cheap and their has more time to choose. I have sea sick during the 1 hours journey. :(

After arrive at Tsim Sha Tsui ferry, we need to go through the immigration process and it only take us about 20 minute to check out from the immigration. Then we follow the map to our hotel. Actually the journey only took us 15-20 minutes to reach Xi hotel but we lost during the journey as the signboard is so confuse.

Xi Hotel is located at Tsim Sha Tsui and is a convenient place to stay as it near East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station inside K11 shopping mall . The hotel is clean and comfortable but a bit small the room. Xi Hotel provide a free handy phone as it easier your journey in Hong Kong. I booked in and it come with breakfast. Xi Hotel staff is friendly and welcome us with warm smile.

Types of room at Xi Hotel
  • Suite Room
  • Deluxe Room
  • Superior Room

We are so hungry when we reach our hotel at 2 pm so we planned go to the nearest stall for a quick lunch before make a move to Avenue of Stars.

This coffee shop famous of wantan mee and beef noodle. The restaurant a bit small and sometime you will share table with stranger. Surprisingly Hongkie eating habit is super fast. Luckily the restaurant is very nice lady. End up we pay HKD 97 for our lunch. Super expensive lunch.

It's time to take a walk after finish eating. Hong Kong weather is hot on September and remember replenish yourself with water if you plan travel in Hong Kong on September. We plan to window shopping at their shopping mall. Recommend shopping malls in Tsim Sha Sui/ Kowloon are Times Square, Sogo , Miramar Shopping Center and K11.

Next destination is Hong Kong Space Musuem. The entry fees is free is you visit the Space musuem on Wednesday. There are some hands on activities for kid and is a good learning process for them.

Alright , I can feel the pain on my leg. I want a massage. I wish I was at Bangkok that time. But we keep going walk but our movement become slow. At last I reach Avenue Stars, Hong Kong. The street is so happening and tourist are busy taking photograph. The Avenue of Stars, modelled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is located along the Victoria Harbour Waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Location: Avenue of Stars,
Waterfront Podium Garden
Tsim Sha Tsui East

MTR station: From MTR East Tsim Sha Tsui Station, take the lift next to Exit P1 and choose the ‘Pd’ floor. Alternatively, use the staircase or the escalator adjacent to Tsim Sha Tsui East (Mody Road) Bus Terminus. Recommend to walk during night time as you get to see the beautiful Symphony of Lights.

Is dinner time before heading back to hotel.  So we took MRT to Jordan station and head toward Temple Street. Temple street is a street that located the areas of Jordan and Yau Ma Tei. It know with is flea market and so happening on the temple street. We did not grab anything from Temple Street as I was busy looking for place to eat. hehe

We found this seafood restaurant when we walk alone Temple street. So we order fried La La, goose meat and some vegetable. Tea is free and refillable. Overall the food is salty and expensive. Service is good and fast.

Suddenly I want to eat ice- cream so we stop at Mc Donald to grab their Matcha Ice-cream. OMG, the ice-cream is good and how I wish Malaysia has Matcha Ice-cream.

We planned to take MRT back to our hotel and stop at Tsim Sha Tsui station. Come out from the station, we visit K11 supermarket before walk back to our hotel.

Tiring journey on the first day in Hong Kong. By the way, you can get a free wifi at some of the MRT station. And some shopping mall also offer a free wifi. Follow my journey on Day 2 soon.
